FAQ

What does a typical session look like?

There is no typical session as all can be very different depending on the needs of the client. The sessions typically last for 60 minutes, however the initial session can go over slightly. You will be provided with a safe, comfortable environment where you can freely discuss what you wish and what is important to you. Counselling & Coaching is explorative thus all decisions for change are left to the discretion of the client. All sessions will be confidential, allowing you to explore your thoughts and feelings privately in a safe space.

What is the difference between Counselling and Coaching?

Counselling is a form of talking therapy associated with assessing the individual in the here and now and if required working to determine past events that have contributed to the client’s current struggles. Counselling will support the development of coping mechanisms and strategies to allow the client to move forward with their life.

Other forms of therapy such as CBT or ACT are shorter in duration, but are structured to included goals and practical exercises to complete outside of the sessions.

Coaching focuses more on the client in the here and aims to encourage personal development and self-improvement. Typically the sessions will be more pragmatic and structured towards agreed goals between client and coach. Although a coach will work with you, it’s often up to you to challenge or reflect upon certain ideas you have to help you move forward with your life.

How many sessions do I need?

The number of sessions needed is entirely up to you. We offer short term or long-term or ad hoc sessions. We aim to help clients achieve their goals as effectively and efficiently as possible. Most clients opt for regular weekly or fortnightly sessions to make the most out of the process.

What are the fees?

During our first consultation we will discuss your presenting issue, needs and goals and to see if there is a good fit between your requirements and what I can offer to help you. For a one hour session the fee for counselling or coaching is £50. Extended sessions can be booked in advance if required with an additional fee.

Do you offer support online or via phone?

We offer telephone, Skype or Zoom sessions at the aforementioned rates. Documentation for working online will be sent prior to the appointment.
