Counselling &                      Coaching

What is Counselling and Coaching?

Counselling is a form of talking therapy associated with assessing the individual in the here and now and if required working to determine past events that have contributed to the client’s current struggles. Counselling will support the development of coping mechanisms and strategies to allow the client to move forward with their life. Other forms of therapy such as CBT or ACT are shorter in duration but are structured to include goals and practical exercises to complete outside of the sessions.

Coaching focuses more on the client in the here and now and aims to encourage personal development and self-improvement. Typically the sessions will be more pragmatic and structured towards agreed goals between client and coach. Although a coach will work with you, it’s often up to you to challenge or reflect upon certain ideas you have to help you move forward with your life.

The most important part of the work we do together is to encourage a ‘commitment to action’ ethos and develop lasting personal growth and change using goal setting and action plans, whilst identifying barriers towards change. I am able to work short term or can offer longer-term support if needed.
