What is Counselling and Coaching?

 

Counselling is a form of talking therapy associated with assessing the individual in the here and now and if required working to determine past events that have contributed to the client’s current struggles. Counselling will support the development of coping mechanisms and strategies to allow the client to move forward with their life. Other forms of therapy such as CBT or ACT are shorter in duration, but are structured to include goals and practical exercises to complete outside of the sessions.

Coaching focuses more on the client in the here and now and aims to encourage personal development and self-improvement. Typically the sessions will be more pragmatic and structured towards agreed goals between client and coach. Although a coach will work with you, it’s often up to you to challenge or reflect upon certain ideas you have to help you move forward with your life.

 

The most important part of the work we do together is to encourage a ‘commitment to action’ ethos and develop lasting personal growth and change using goal setting and action plans, whilst identifying barriers towards change. I am able to work short term or can offer longer term support if needed.

How much does it cost?

During our first consultation we will discuss your presenting issue, needs and goals and to see if there is a good fit between your requirements and what I can offer to help you.​​

  • For a one hour session the fee is £50

Are telephone and Skype sessions available?

We offer face to face, telephone, Skype or FaceTime sessions at the aforementioned rates.

When are appointments offered?

We are able to offer appointments on weekday evenings (Mondays to Thursday 5.15pm to 8.15pm), all day Friday and Saturday mornings (9.00am to 12.15pm).

How many sessions will I need and how frequently?

The number of sessions needed is entirely up to you. We offer short term or long-term or ad hoc sessions. We aim to help clients achieve their goals as effectively and efficiently as possible. Most clients opt for regular weekly or fortnightly sessions to make the most out of the process.
